Glen Canyon Natural History Association
Annual Membership Meeting
Friday, November 7, 2008, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
Carl Hayden Visitor Center at Glen Canyon Dam
Hwy 89, Page, Arizona
Glen Canyon NHA members and agency partners are invited to this year's Annual Member Meeting. Each year in the Fall, Glen Canyon Natural History Association holds its Annual Meeting. This is an
opportunity for our Members and Agency Partners to meet the Board of Directors, provide input, get
updates about projects and goals completed the previous year, and learn what is planned for next year.
This year's Annual Member Meeting is fast approaching, and we have a great special guest speaker this year: Wayne Ranney.
Wayne will be presenting from his latest book authored with Ron Blakey, Ancient Landscapes of the Colorado Plateau. The Colorado Plateau is one of the world's great showplaces of sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rock. The plateau's rocky landscapes are home to the greatest concentration of national parks and monuments in the world. Ancient Landscapes of the Colorado Plateau highlights the plateau's magnificent present through unique views of its fascinating past. It is a groundbreaking book featuring the geology of the American Southwest in a way you've never seen it before. This landmark book features more than 70 state-of-the-art paleogeographic maps of the region and of the world developed over many years of geologic research, detailed yet accessible text that covers the geology of the plateau in a way nongeologists can appreciate more than 100 full-color photographs, diagrams, and illustrations, and a detailed guide of where to go to see the spectacular rocks of the region. Join Wayne Ranney on a trip through deep time, a trip through the ancient landscapes of the Colorado Plateau.
A book signing will follow.
As a special thank you to our valued members, a special member's discount of 25% will be honored during the evening. We will be serving a dessert bar and giving members an update on Glen Canyon NHA. We will also hold a Fundraising Raffle.
Admission is free for Glen Canyon Natural History Association Members; new and renewal memberships will be available at the door starting at $25.00. Glen Canyon Natural History Association is pleased to present this annual event for its valued members. |
